This is my first Wunschliste!
I like lists. Everything important in my life is perfectly placed on long lists.
The books I have to read and I don't have to.
The items in my fridge that must be eaten in a short period of time.
The stuff I have to take with me every week when I travel home.
Several years ago, I secretly kept a tiny notebook (now lost in combat) where I would write down the fashion items I dreamed of as part of my basic wardrobe. You can imagine designer patent leather stilettos, crisp white shirts, little black dresses signed by Herve Leger, Kelly bags and so on.
Back down to the earth, a student does not normally earn much, and therefore my monthly lists will be filled with affordable luxuries and basic yet stylish items that (I hope) will become timeless in my wardrobe. I am against of trends. I think fashion is a way of self expression and those who just follow the season trends have little to offer to the creative community. So... lets inaugurate this section!
1. Sequined, crew neck jacket from Benetton. Airy, shiny and comfortable for a night walk in the city or a classy wind & pintxos evening. I. Just. Love. Sequins. So. Much.
2. ORGANIC leather and crystal sandals from Zara. What can I say about them besides than they are perfect? We should reenforce wearing organic and eco-friendly clothing. We are damaging the planet so quickly by our bad consumer habits, that the least we can do is to contribute and make this place a little more *shinier*.
I sometimes think I have fashion superpowers... Or that I go crazy most of the times. Last summer in Sweden, I thought the good-old-plain-black Birkenstock sandals of my middle aged Swedish teacher would make a great alternative to the horrendous gladiator shoes that have been all the rage lately. Women need shoes in which they can walk comfortably, or don't you remember Nancy Sinatra's "these boots are made for walking?". We don't want 14cm, platform high heels. Neither can we afford botulinic toxin foot jobs to stand them. So, hey, I graciously thought I had found the only ugly looking shoes that nobody would like to wear (apart from German people, they invented them after all...), and now,
WHY ON EARTH ARE THEY TRENDY?
I am not complaining, I wished fashion would take a 360 turn and please women's necessities in all other senses. I mean, who in its mind wears a see through polymer overskirt on a normal day? Me? You? Just. Face. It. The vast majority of seasonal trends are as ridiculous as the ones our mothers insisted on wearing in their youth. FACT.
3. Hm basic tank top. No need of further explanation. For a couple of bucks you get a decent piece to wear everywhere and easy to accessorize. College kids must be budget savvy, you know?
4. Hm basic sweatpants. I could put my hand on fire this style will become TRENDY more sooner than later. Just remember me when they do.
5. Peacock feather earrings. Those are one of my obsessions. I have worn peacock earrings since my wild teenager years. I would honestly put a peacock feather everywhere. In a vase, as a book marker, glued to the wall... Some may think they are kind of trashy, but it actually goes hand by hand with the person in question style and personality. Leather jacket, leopard leggings, pocachontas shoes and peacock earrings. FAIL. We don't need a Zoo.
But otherwise, experiment with all kind of textures, colors and pieces. You'd be surprise of the outcome :)
| I bet this kitty cat has more style than all animal print followers combined. |

6. Old Style Urban Outfitters Tray. I seriously need one of these to put all my jewelry. Besides, I want to be as hip as a hipster. And Urban Outfitter is, although if I tell you it will be mainstream and that's not so cool because we all want to be as cool as green tea ice cream.
7. Folded in hologram clutch originally by Stella Maccartney, copied by the whole world and now out of stock in ASOS. However, the good news for those lifelong hologram addicts like me is that it is a very easy DIY. (**Spoiler alert**).
Have a terrific weekend, and happy reading!
Amelie
